Ballpark
DEFINITION: Derived from the game of baseball, "ballpark" is used to describe a metaphoric for estimating. May also appear as "ballpark figure" or "ballpark estimate."

EXAMPLE: When the reporter interviewed the company president, he said, "I was told the total number of event attendees was 8,000. Is this number even in the ballpark?"
"I was so impressed with the complimentary review that was completed by [one of your editors] that my son and I have decided to use your services to check his fall term papers. In addition, I plan to recommend your company to other students - I am a college administrator and have lots of student contact. Thanks again for your help. "
