Best Foot Forward
DEFINITION: If you want to make a good impression on someone, you "put your best foot forward."

EXAMPLE: I normally don't spend an hour on my hair, but I really wanted Mike to like me, so I put my best foot forward.
"I am so impressed and I haven’t even made it through the 2 pages that I have submitted! ... I hope that you will continue to be my editor throughout this process. "
