Between a Rock and a Hard Place
DEFINITION: This idiom means that a person is conflicted between two bad options for a decision.

EXAMPLE: Jodi and Max were both friends of mine, so when they asked me to decide who was right, I felt like I was between a rock and a hard place.
"I just dropped off my thesis. You were so incredibly helpful in this process. I work full time and knew that I would not have time to go over 80 pages with a fine-toothed comb the way that you did. "
