Below the Belt
DEFINITION: A phrase or action is considered "below the belt" if it violates a usually unwritten rule of appropriateness.
EXAMPLE: I know Brian was angry that Carol broke up with him, but saying that she's a bad mother in front of her children was below the belt. |
