Mudsling

This term is commonly used in politics to refer to the phenomenon of insulting or questioning the credibility of other candidates in a negative, unconstructive way.

EXAMPLE: Many young voters are disillusioned by contemporary politics; between mudslinging and scandals, it's difficult to know who is honest and trustworthy.
