Ivory Tower

DEFINITION: To be removed from the real world; detached from reality. Sometimes used with negative connotations to describe people in academics (i.e., professors).

EXAMPLE: Have you been stuck in the ivory tower theorizing about human interactions for so long that you've forgotten how to actually interact with your own mother!
