Go Overboard
DEFINITION: To exceed what is necessary; to do/say/spend, etc. too much.

EXAMPLE: (positive tone) Wow, Joann really went overboard on the Halloween decorations! It looks amazing!

(negative tone) I don't mind if you want to buy a new outfit, but don't you think you went a little overboard?
"Thank you so much for the polishing suggestions! I was not impressed with the work done on the résumé in the past. This looks so much better! "
